Electronic Resource Management: From Subscription to Access Management is a peer-reviewed scholarly edited book that focuses on the evolving landscape of electronic resource management in academic and research libraries. The book brings together 26 rigorously selected, peer-reviewed chapters that address the conceptual, theoretical, practical, technological, managerial, legal, and user-oriented dimensions of electronic resource management in libraries. The contributions critically examine the transition from print to electronic resource management; the importance, benefits, and challenges of online resources; Open Access and the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative; e-book publishing and licensing models; Digital Rights Management, copyright and fair use; digital preservation through LOCKSS, CLOCKSS and Portico; discovery, access, A–Z listing, remote access, and user behaviour; usage analytics, return on investment (ROI), and strategic subscription decisions. The volume also explores marketing of electronic resources, ICT and cloud computing, cyber security, staff competency, and emerging approaches to improving electronic resource services in libraries. Beyond conceptual discussions, this edited volume incorporates empirical studies, theoretical and practical investigations, comparative perspectives, institutional case studies, and evidence-based practices from diverse academic and research environments. Particular attention is given to the changing scholarly communication ecosystem in India, the ONOS initiative and its implications for equitable research access, APC support, electronic resource management (ERM) in higher education, and practical models for successful ERM implementation, including experiences from universities and institutions in India. These peer-reviewed contributions provide research-based insights and practical perspectives for understanding, evaluating, and strengthening electronic resource management and digital library services. The book is intended as a valuable scholarly reference for Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals, academicians, researchers, students, library administrators, and policymakers dealing with the management of electronic resources in universities and research libraries in India and around the globe.
